Luca Benedetti has been performing in a wide variety of Roots, Jazz, Country, and Americana-inspired projects since moving to NYC in 1996. His most recent collaborations include performances, production and recordings with Jim Campilongo, Martha Redbone, Speeding West, Honeyfingers, Tubby, The Brooklyn Boogaloo Blowout, Erik Deutsch, Jon Cowherd, Zephaniah & The 18 Wheelers, The Dang-it Bobbys, Jason Loughlin & The String Gliders, Kelli Scarr & North of Amarillo, The National Reserve, and Margo Valiante
Luca has a really interesting background. Born in Rome, he grew up in Italy, New York City, Connecticut, Africa, and Bangkok. He graduated from Berklee, studied under Ron Carter, and has also done session work for a number of major retailers. Luca talks about the pros and cons of growing up in so many different places and how this shaped his music and his personality. Very candid call with a great jazz player:
